In honour of my new book coming out soon, I wanted to launch a new author website. My old author site used Avada but the version was old because I hadn’t updated it in a while and it was on my original domain that did not reflect my full pen name. I had registered barbarajstarmans.com some time ago so I downloaded the latest version of Avada. I was able to set up a basic website in a weekend, complete with a front page revolution slider featuring my upcoming book and a portfolio of my writing and web design credits.
The Revolution Slider plugin which comes with Avada is a little complicated to master but there are basic templates and many tutorials available to help with the learning curve. I especially liked that there are tools to ensure that the slider looks awesome on all screen sizes.
Why Avada?
Avada was created back in 2012 but was recently updated to version 5.0 and it is even more awesome than before. It is the best selling theme of all time and has been purchased more than 275,000 times! The theme comes with an amazing 22 click-to-install demo setups and there is sure to be one that inspires you. Or if you want to do something completely different, build all your own pages from scratch using the theme options and the built in Fusion Builder.
Fusion Builder
Avada comes with it’s own builder called Fusion Builder, a feature that was rebuilt from the ground up in version 5.0. The performance of pages built with it is greatly improved from previous versions and it now offers nested columns so you can be more creative. There are many tutorials available from the Avada support on how to set up the Avada theme including this great tutorial on using Fusion Builder.
